Joseph

The Christmas story starts when Joseph and Mary are engaged to be married but before they were living together. Joseph is surprised to hear that Mary is pregnant and he plans to end the relationship but an angel appears to him in a dream and tells him that Mary is pregnant by God’s Holy Spirit. The angel tells Joseph that the baby will be the saviour of the world. Joseph stays with Mary and is with her when the baby is born. He then arranges for the family to escape to Egypt when King Herod kills all the baby boys after he fears that the messiah has been born and such a child might threaten his position as King.
